Mr. Namagoose resides in Ottawa, Ontario. Mr. Namagoose is the former Executive Director of the Cree Nation Government and of the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee). He retired from the Cree Nation Government in January 2023 after serving 35 years as its Executive Director.  He is currently the Chairman of the Cree/Naskapi Pension Plan. Mr. Namagoose is also a trustee on the Cree Nation Trust which manages the funds from the New Relationship Agreement with the Federal government. He was awarded an honorary Degree of Laws from Carleton University in June 2022 and awarded an Order of Canada in June 2023.  He is from the Waskaganish Cree First Nation where he previously served as Chief and Director of Operations.
